We were looking for a nice place to grab a quick bite to eat and we weren't let down here at Joanet! Initially, it was a little hard to find (especially with us being non-locals and the sign being fairly modest in design) but the interior was cozy and neat if you decide to dine within. Eating outside in the little plaza outside is also another option.
We knew we wanted seafood before leaving Barcelona so we made sure not to hold back :)
Assorted fried fish tapas plate: We ate this by itself as well as dipped into a mix of extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar (which will be brought to the table). The smaller fish were nice and crunchy and you can basically eat the entire fish (including bones). The crunch of the skin is balanced by tender and moist flesh.
Grilled tuna: It comes out looking like a thin piece of steak, initially confusing my uncultured self, but is sliced easily with a fork. The tuna falls apart in the mouth, the crisp side of greens seasoned with an ever-so-slightly acidic dressing; I could eat 10 of these.
Grilled cuttlefish: I've never tried cuttlefish before so I thought I'd be adventurous before hopping on a plane back to Florence. The herb sauce drizzled all over the perfectly cooked cuttlefish really was the cherry on top. Each bite was like biting into a thick juicy shrimp/scallop hybrid.
I'll definitely be back next time I get the chance to go back to Barcelona.
I had an amazing octopus tail here! It was grilled and melted in my mouth! Perfect for my low card diet!! Great prices on wine and beer too! I didn't eat anything else but it looked good!!
Wonderful place for our first lunch in Barcelona. Very neat out of the way place. Looks like it was a remodeled
Cave. Don't let that fool you. Had the freshest salad and tastiest tomatoes on my Greek salad since I don't remember when. Also had an item that was a
Mixture of prawns and veggies in tempura wonton shell. Delicious.
