I appreciate eating some non-Spanish food during our trip to Spain, as much as I enjoy eating tapas and paellas. The food here tasted very authentic, Cantonese style, and we sat right next to the kitchen, so I could see all the cooking action through a clear glass. They serve a variety of dim sum, roasted meats, noodles, veggies, you name it. Their chefs work nonstop to make all the delicious dishes. We got some tea with our dinner and it just tasted so comforting and warm, perfect since it was quite chilly outside.
After spending 8 days in Spain, we were craving for authentic Cantonese food. Surprisingly this place has that old Hong Kong feel with old 80s music in the background. The table is a mahjong table. Their menu is simple and has a taste of Hong Kong.
We ordered roast pork clay pot rice, duck fried rice, and eggplant casserole. For drinks we tried their HK milk tea which was not authentic at all. Not sure if we were deprived of rice, but the clay pot rice was amazing. The soy sauce was really good. The duck fried rice was a bit oily and the rice was undercooked. The eggplant casserole was not authentic Cantonese style but has their own Spanish twist to it. It was also a bit too salty but would have been great with a bowl of white rice.
I would come again considering that there's barely any Cantonese food in madrid centre and the flavors were pretty good. The clay pot rice was still my favorite.
This small restaurant close to the Plaza Mayor does take you back in the 70 of HK. I loved the atmosphere, and you get a laugh out of it if you know HK. The food was excellent, especially for us who had had non Chinese food for the last few days. The scallops were excellent, the shrimp in 肠粉 is a little dry. The 煲仔饭, hot rice pot dish was excellent too! I wish I could go back again and try more dishes. Yelp won't let me check in after I am back to the US.
