This place is bomb!!! Definitely my favorite restaurant in Barcelona. The service, the tapas and the cava. Everything is impeccable. The tapas here isn't the traditional kind you get from la Boquería, but is in fact very innovative. My favorite dishes are the shrimp with crispy roll and suckling pig.
Two of us had 8 tapas and 1 dessert, and were super full and satisfied after the meal.
This place was suggested by our hotel concierge. We decided to give it a try. We arrived on the earlier side, had a bottle of cava, ordered a bunch of small plates. As the restaurant grew busier, the service grew slower and much less attentive. The food was great, but not spectacular. We had the wagyu beef chipotle tarter, the jalapeño and corn, the langoustine, the mozzarella salad, can't remember the fancy name, the pesto risotto and the shrimp and pork sandwiches.
We waited a really long time for the last course, probably because the restaurant was filling up. Our wine was empty the last half hour, we just decided to get the check and head somewhere else.
I think the experience was great. I don't know if o would return for a second time. The timing was off on the food and the service was a little lackluster.
Barcelona is full of amazing food. Mont Bar stands out as exceptional. Creative, tasty, well executed. Polite and funny staff. There can be delays between dishes, but worth the wait. I was entertained and delighted but left the restaurant hungry despite ordering six dishes and an amazing bottle of cava.
