The cheesecake is amazing. The best I have ever had and I have had plenty. My review is solely based on the cheesecake. It is unlike the ones in the US as there is no crust. It is so light and creamy and you must try it.
We came here one night late and they mentioned that they don't have any cheesecake but it was sitting there in front of us. I guess they make a certain amount every day and then make a new batch the next night. The thing with cheesecake is that apparently it has to settle overnight. We went back the next day around lunch time to try it and it was worth the wait. It was ridiculously good. Not too sweet and not too tangy like the american version. It had a perfect creaminess and texture. Flavor was just right. There are no frills here either with no graham cracker crust or anything of the sort. It is pure and utter cheesecake or torta de queso in spanish.
Definitely come visit when you are in San Sebastian. Just order the cheesecake and nothing else. It is worth it.
Located in the Old Town of San Sebastian is La Vina A that has traditional fish pintxos and snacks. But I was only there for one reason and wasn't for their pintxos.
The real highlight of this bar is their cheesecake which is made daily and sits on the shelf above their pintxos.
The cheesecake was definitely tasty and creamy. There is only one other place that has just as good of a cheese cake recipe that I know of and that place was presently 3500 miles away. So then... On Egin!
Cyndy's Bottom Line: It's all about the cheesecake!
Divine!
It comes with two pieces for 5 euros.
More the merrier!
Very creamy and decadent. Like a thick custard.
The Basque "burnt" cheesecake here is the stuff of dreams. It has spoiled me for all other cheesecakes. I made a special pilgrimage here to eat it. As others have mentioned, it is like a thick custard in the center with a dark crust. Just heaven with a cortado.
Later I went back for dinner with friends, which was good but really, the action is in the front of the house with drinks and pintxos. Make this a definite stop when you are in San Sebastian (Donostia).
Can only speak to the cheesecake here, which is amazing. Fluffy, delicious, great texture, creamy, rich but not sweet. Go early as they sell out.
Amazing! Best cheesecake I've ever had. Light and fluffy and not too sweet. So good that we came back the next day. Do be aware that 1 order is 2 small pieces on a plate, so order and split 1 order for 2 people so you have room for all the delicious pintxos in the neighborhood
Cheesecake!
That is all! No really! They have plethora of things here but you should only come for torta de queso!! Their best selling item!! Most popular item!! And a must have!
I came here every single day during my week! Somedays, I'd even miss my dinner but not the dessert!! And I don't do dessert! I'm a picky dessert eater. I hate all the bright colors sugary treats.
This was anything but! You get 2 pieces per Oder! €5! Only €5! I always get it wit a cafe con leche! Or an espresso! But it's good! Tired their award wining anchovy crepe roll too. So tiny! So cute! I saw it in the box with the award! Had to! It was ok!
Cheese cake without the crust though! So melty! So good!! Can someone ship me some? Gracias!
By the time you get to reading my review, I'm sure you've connected La Viña with cheesecake. And you should absolutely, without any question, get the cheesecake here. An order comes with two slices, and it's as luxurious and heavenly as everyone says it is. I'm not sure what's more impressive; the number of cheesecakes this little place pumps out or the fact that La Viña's cheesecake is a worldwide phenomenon. In any case, if you're here for dinner, definitely look up getting their non-cheesecake items too. I had a fried shrimp egg roll thing and it was absolutely delicious. We also had an omelette of egg and mushroom that was super tasty too! If nothing else, wander around the old town for awhile, sample other pintxos, then end your night at La Viña!
OMG.... get the cheesecake!!! You have to get the cheesecake. I'm not even a huge cheesecake fan and this cheesecake was one of the best desserts I have ever had. We even got two slices (one for now, one for later) and drank a little too nicer cider that night and forgot about our second slice when we left the next morning. Once we got to the airport, I was starving for breakfast and immediately remembered our cheesecake (I would have ate it for breakfast) and was sad because we left it in our air bnb. Also, Make sure to get here early because they sell out!
San Sebastián is by far one of my favorite places and we will be back for this cheesecake. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
They offer many food items and pintxos in this restaurant, but we came here specifically for their cheesecake. I'm not a big fan of cheesecake in general but their cheesecake is like nothing I've tasted before. This was actually really good! So creamy and not overtly sweet, not dry at all, and the best part was the slightly burnt crust. You get two pieces per order, which initially I thought was too much, but after taking a few bites I couldn't get enough. Do enjoy a little cortado after this delicious dessert.
My wife and I were both unaware that one order of cheesecake meant two slices, so we accidentally ordered two full orders for. Opps. We ended up eating the four slices, as this is the best cheesecake in the world. Sorry I am not sorry. NY cheesecake is now on notice; eat your heart out.
Went for the burnt Basque cheesecake. One piece is actually two, so pace yourself. For a person that is only 50/50 for cheesecake it was definitely good. There were lots of people lining up and I think this place is legit. We were also able to look at the pinxto menu, but only had the cheesecake. Pinxto menu looked solid, as most do here. I would go here if you need a little desert.
The cheesecake. I came for the cheesecake. Two slices for 5 euros--it was one of the most memorable desserts I've ever eaten. The pinxtos looked delicious and I wish I could have tried more, but alas, it was two slices of yumminess to go. Worth every calorie!
My favorite cheesecake in the world ! When we had the opportunity to go to Spain I knew I would do my best to go to San Sebastián and try this cheesecake. It was so worth it. It was the perfect ending to an afternoon of tapeo
The hot ticket item here is definitely the cheesecake. Packed, cheesecake is very good and is more of a custard style (not really my thing but if you're into custard you'll probably love this). Definitely worth checking out, cool take on a cheesecake!
We loved their cheesecake. It reminded us of both creme brûlée and New York style cheesecake all in one bite. It is worth visiting for this unique flavor and texture. Also, we thought they had the best marinated sardines. The sardines were marinated in citrus then topped with chopped bell peppers and local olive. Other places that served anchovies were too fishy for our pallet.
I had read that this place has the best cheesecake, and it certainly lived up to it! The cheesecakes are made in whole and then you get 2 slices per order. It is the creamiest cheesecake I've ever had in my life! The outside has a caramelized burnt crust to it and it is heaven on earth!
One of the local guys said we should order a glass of sherry and pour a little on top of the cheesecake. He says it's amazing. We went back a second night to try it, but they were already sold out by 8pm!
This is a definite must stop when in San Sebastián.
