The place: This place is a little hidden Jen right next to plaza de España. It is a quaint little Thai place with nice decor.
The service: staff is friendly and attentive. They check up on you but are not overbearing. Really sweet and kind waitress named Yani.
The food: order the menu de dia for 11.60€. I got a chicken with peanut sauce as my first plate, a cilantro and chili chicken with rice for my second plate, beer to drink. The food had a lot of flavor which was a nice switch from typical bland Spanish food.
Comment- I do think it's just a little pricy for the quantity you get. If it was 10€ I would be here more often. But overall good place.
Great food, and the owner is very friendly. He comfortably speaks English and Spanish, and he was super nice both times we ate there. Would happy seek out this place if we ever return to Madrid.
Mind you, we have two completely opposed views of Thai food. First, we live in DC, home of standardized Thai. Every block has a place serving pad thai that tastes just like every other restaurant's version. Second, we have spent the last four weeks in Sevilla eating tapas. No pad thai, no spring rolls, no pad see ew, no yellow curry, our taste buds were dying for a jolt.
Enter Madrid, and Siam restaurant. Sure, Siam is pricey by Sevilla standards, and even by DC standards... But what we had charmed us. And the decor is simple but adorable. The minced chicken with cilantro and chili had just the right amount of kick, and was enhanced by diced red onions. It was essentially larb, and it was fantastic. Don't think of the pad thai as pad thai - it's really sweet and sour noodles. If you think of it that way, you will enjoy it. And skip the oily tasteless spring rolls. Yes, some of our enjoyment of this grub came from deprivation, but really, Siam is serving up some perfectly solid Thai grub.
A Thai restaurant - an *actual* Thai restaurant with legitimate Thai food; color me impressed. I spent a year and a half living in a mid-sized Thai city, and I would equate Siam with a mid-to-high range Thai restaurant, where a plate would cost about 300-400 baht and a menu in English would be available.
When you walk in, it's Thailand; from the seated Buddhas to the fake hanging garden plants, to the Thai soft rock/slow jams pumping out from the portable boom-box on the floor...they'll even pour you a Mahou in a Singha glass (not sure which one is worse, but I think it's Mahou). And if you order a water they'll bring an ice-water, which is both refreshing and refreshing in context of most of the bars and restaurants I've visited in Spain.
I ordered the cashew chicken, and it was dead-on if not muted a bit to fit the European palette. My girlfriend got the basil chicken, and behold: the basil was REAL Thai sweet basil, not the standard sort you'd find in the supermarkets here. Amazing. To solve the lack-of-spice issue, we asked for "salsa picante" - partly to impart some spicy flavor and partly to see what would appear on the table. A small part of me expected bird's-eye bits in fish sauce, the authentic Thai condiment, but what came was a pleasant surprise. You can't add chilies to a dish afterward and expect the flavors to meld properly, so the ramekin held a potent chili-paste sauce that produced the sort of heat required to make a dish "arroy" (delicious) by Thai standards and horrifyingly spicy by Euro standards. Success!
The reviews haven't lied. This place is the real deal, and you can count on a 30€ bill to feed two people. That's the only part that's more European than Thai. If you miss real Thai food, skip the other places in town and try this one.
Just when I thought all hope for finding decent Pad Thai in Madrid was lost, Siam stepped in to restore my faith. The restaurant is cozy and atmosphere better than what you find at stuffy Chinese restaurants around the area.
With a quick glance at the menu, we realized the set menu for the night would be the way to go. For only a few Euro more than a normal main course, you get a first plate, dessert and drink. Was I overly full afterwards? Surely. But was it worth it? Definitely.
Not only was the Pad Thai plentiful, it was spicy (upon request), which is always a plus in my book. While I was full after this first plate, next came the Vegetarian Curry which was also delicious.
Service was nice and it wasn't too expensive at all. I'm glad they deliver so close to my home because my search for acceptable Thai food ends here!
Reasonable price and pretty good Thai food:) don't expect anything spicy because we are in Spain lol but the food itself was great and the staff was very nice as well! Really close to grand via/plaza de españa
My husband and I came here a few times during our stay in Madrid. We were impressed to find such great tasting Thai food while in Spain.
We tasted both the panang curry and veggie yellow curry. Both were very tasty, although not as spicy as usual. You also have to order your rice separate from the curry - I wish the curry and rice came together like most Thai restaurants.
We also tasted the chicken pad Thai. Again, ask for extra spice. But over all a good dish.
The mango sticky rice is very excellent for dessert!
If you go M-W before 4pm the lunch menu is only 6€.
delivery to our hotel took longer than expected but the phat Thai, chicken with basil, shrimp curry, and Tom yum soup were all so good! I'm from LA and NY and the flavor profile was right on point!
I moved to Madrid two months ago and have gotten my Thai fix at Siam no less than 5 times. Love their menú del día. Great value and delicious food.
I had the pad thai because I was craving it. It's not the best pad thai I ever had but still did the job. I recommend!
Very tasty thai food. The pad thai and the red curry is very good, full of flavour. Good value for money and great menu of the day and the staff are efficient. 100% recommend
Vegetarian yellow curry tastes like heaven. Clean, fast, good service, absolutely delicious, cheap (still wish it was cheaper) and neatly decorated. One chicken pad Thai and one vegetable yellow curry should do the trick. ;)
This place was so great - and such a nice change from seafood and ham - that we ended up eating here twice while in Madrid on a trip from New York. Have to say - the place was empty both nights - couldn't quite figure that out. Assume that they must do a large take out business. We had chicken fried rice, chicken pad thai, chicken & basil noodles, and both nights we had the chicken w/cashew nuts - which was completely amazing. The staff was very nice. Both nights we had the same waitress. They accidentally brought us a sangria instead of the beer we ordered - but that was great as well. The place was so quiet that we could hear our food cooking in the back. We discussed offering the chef a job to come back to NY and open a restaurant - but we left him there for all of you to enjoy. Please do.
This place has great Thai food. We tried the Pad Thai and the Vegetarian Red Curry and both were delicious. The Pad Thai wasn't spicy at all, so Spaniards should give it a try. The Red Curry was a bit spicy but in my opinion it was just the right amount of spice. I will be telling all my friends to come here. :)

Opciones vegetarianas y veganas. El menú son 15€ bebida aparte
Hemos ido varias veces y siempre hemos salido encantadas.
Ambiente acogedor. Esa calle está repleta de locales étnicos. Siam es popular y suele estar lleno. De precio correcto. Sólo he probado el menú.
