Loved this place! Can easily be missed but just trust your map, the place is upstairs and you will go through a store front.
As soon as you get out of the elevator you'll feel your ZEN. The place is adorably decorated with plants and there's a good amount of mist spraying to keep you cool. You feel happy just enjoying your drink and meal while listening to some great play list!! Loved their green juices - had the green detox which had spinach, kale and mango, so good during a hot day!! Shared a burger that is made from wagyu beef topped with caramelized onion, Brie cheese and luscious slices of tomatoes, and it came with wedges of fries!
While in Madrid I wanted to find a cute place to snack and get do some writing. I stumbled upon this place on the website like a local for Madrid. You have to enter through a store front and go up three flights of escalators (or take the elevator up) to reach the garden. It definitely does feel hidden and secretive.
Once I got to the top I was VERY impressed by the decor. The space was so beautiful and covered in green plants and flowers (including some gorgeous) orchids right next to my table.)
I ordered the "pan rústico y jamón" and a glass of the tinto se verano. The service was great and I almost instantly got my food and drink. The drink came with a small tapa which was small slices of toasted cinnamon bread and an olive tapenade. The ham and bread was WAY to much for one person so make sure to keep that in mind if your are coming alone. The ham was not ibérico so was not my favorite but the bread was covered in fresh tomatoes and olive oil and tastes amazing.
The tinto de verano was by far my favorite I had while in Madrid. It is a huge cup for only 6 euros! Once the bill came I noticed that the ham was about 20 euros. That felt a little steep compared to other places in Madrid. I would just keep that in mind when visiting but it's worth it to come visit just for the atmosphere and a little get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
This place was a little hard to find but well worth it! The Rooftop bar is on the fourth floor of a small department store. The decor was cute and the drinks were amazing! Very fresh and made to order!
Best described as: a floral jungle paradise tea room/cafe.
Go if: you want to spend a morning with girlfriends nibbling pastries or brunch and sipping a fancy coffee, followed by shopping the store downstairs.
Or a romantic date small plates and drinks in the evening, enjoying the evening breeze on the outdoor terrace surrounded by lush real and faux greenery.
Price range: $$ (compared to NYC prices)
Location: 3rd and 4th floors of a Salvador Bachiller store
Personal opinion- loved the ambiance. The drinks and prices were probably 3 star worthy, and didn't try the warm food, but giving it an extra star for the lovely decor. Service felt a bit on the slower side but they were friendly and nothing significant to mention. We went on a Sunday around noon and it was mostly empty.
Terrace on 4th floor is only for ordering food, if you want drinks, coffee or pastries only then they direct you to the 3rd floor.
Adorable!
Brunch: delicious, cute, the perfect place for a girl's hang-out! They have acai bowls, pancakes, ice cream and amazing smoothies.
Drinks: perfect cocktails for the artsy Instagrammer. Drinks come in pineapple cups, tiki heads, bird cages, mini bathtubs and more. Mojitos come with a stick of candy and all are creative. However, they are some of the priciest drinks in Madrid (10-15€ compared to the usual 5-7€).
Atmosphere: ask for the rooftop. It's covered in plants, swings, and lights. A classic secret garden.
This was one of my favorite places I ate in in Madrid! It really is a secret and I never would have found it if I hadn't read about it on TripAdvisor. It's located inside the store Salvador Bachiller, on the top floors. There's a gastrobar that is only open for dinner and a rooftop restaurant that's open for both lunch and dinner. The shop itself is beautiful, and it's almost impossible to not buy something from there. They sell the tableware that they use in the restaurant and I was so enchanted by it I bought a lovely, little mug from them. It's very unique stuff and most of it is made by the brand Salvador Bachiller.
We went for lunch after spending the morning shopping in the area. It's simply a gorgeous, magical restaurant, there is nothing more to say. You really feel like you're eating in a garden and there's no way to tell that you're in the middle of a big, bustling Madrid street. They had what I assume was their holiday decorations up; golden stars and golden leaves attached to the trees. All the waiters all wear these cute, entirely red outfits, complete with little hats. They even wear matching shades of red lipstick. It's quite a sight and I wish I had gotten a picture.
The lunch menu is small and limited, but the food is mouthwatering. I ordered their Daily Vegetable Soup, that day it was Carrot and Orange, and a glass of Sangria. They bring out a bowl of yummy veggie chips while you wait for the food to be prepared. All the food was delicious. I'm still dreaming about that soup!
When they brought out my sangria my mouth fell open. It was the biggest glass of sangria I had ever seen, as big as my head. It was very fruity and sweet and there were fresh raspberries and slices of orange in it. Make sure to get a glass!
The food was presented so beautifully! All the dishes matched and even my soup matched the bowl I ate it in. Perfection! They served the soup in a tall tea pot! It was brilliant and I only wish my own tableware could be so wonderful.
The experience was lovely from start to finish. I think anyone visiting Madrid should come see it for themselves cause this place will blow your mind!
Brilliant ambiance. Good food. In a luggage and home goods store. Fairly popular place although it's " hard to find ".
One of our best experiences in Spain! Such a great environment that has a great vibe. A little on the pricy side but their cheese fruit and nut platter is among the best!!! Hard to find but that's the point :)
It is situated on the top floor of a shop. The terrasse is full of beautiful plants that hides it from the street. The drinks are remarkably tasty and well presented. Strongly recommend!!!!
It was so hard to find this place. But worth the effort. Just look for a bouncer in a flower shop. No numbers so you gotta figure it out.
The most cute place you can find. And really secret. On the roof of a store.
Good beverages.
I really liked this place! It's such a hidden surprise in a corridor of busy tourist places. Go inside the retail store and up the elevator to the secret garden on this gorgeous patio.
Both the food and service were top notch and I appreciated the nice touches like having the menu rolled up into a scroll or the retractable roof worthy of any sports stadium.
my GOSH!
this place is a literal d-r-e-a-m. if you are familiar with the American store, Anthropologie, you will quickly see that Jardín Secreto would be Anthropologie's restaurant.
if you don't know what Anthropologie is, I will instead describe the mesmerizing atmosphere of this beautiful restaurant: peaceful, colorful, unique, thoughtful, refuge, upscale yet comfy.
Andrew & I ordered: a beer, coffee con leche, pollo tacos, Jardín Secreto dessert. they also serve complimentary crema de pappas sopa con pesto before the main tapa is served. all very good.
as I said previously, it is upscale in the way that it is quite expensive.. 20% extra to sit outside.. but why would you want to sit anywhere else (unless it's maybe raining outside, but heck, maybe I'd even sit outside in the rain at this place)?!
come through the baggage store all the way to the top floor (can be reached by either escalator or elevator). prepare to be amazed. sit + eat + drink + dream a little. rest up from the bustling city of Madrid and take in the greenery and beautiful colors.
This is a beautiful spot right near Gran Via on the top floor of a commercial building. It's a quiet and cool hideaway from the chaos below where you can have tea, coffee, cocktails and sweets among other things.
I did not expect to find such a cosy, intimate sanctuary on a very busy street in center of Madrid. I tend to stay away from tourist traps, places popular among tourists. Secret garden is definitely very original. I did not get to try food but the as far as I can see and smell, food was good. I hear Madrid is full of places like this and I am on a hunt to discover more gems.

Realmente bonito y curioso lugar.
