Awesome atmosphere! A great place to drop in for a cold beer and some grilled pig ears! If you want fancy, don't go! If you want a hole in a wall with awesome, unique Madrid cooking and drinks, it's your place!

We had some wonderful food here late last year. Reminded me of the lovely food I grew up with. Very friendly staff, who were more than willing to provide English menus, which of course I didn’t need.

Of all the restaurants I have been in Madrid, this one is clearly my favorite, in virtually all aspects (quality, quantity, customer service, and price). If you're looking for an authentic Spanish experience, from plates, to tapas, and to drinks - look no further, this is it! However, since the portions were surprisingly bigger than what I expected, I would suggest coming here with a group and ordering various plates. Olé! I'll be back here for sure!

I found out about this hidden gem while watching a popular social media influencer on YouTube. So, I decided to check Casa Toni out to see if it was really a hidden gem. I always check on Yelp to look at the visuals of the food and to also check the reviews to make sure it coincides with what the influencer mentioned. I decided to order multiple items based on popular votes through Yelp, which was Patatas Bravas, Sheep Intestines, Pig Ears, and fried Anchovies. While waiting on my order, I had the pleasure to interact with other customers who were also visiting from the United States. They shared their travel experience with me and mentioned how much they enjoyed the food at Casa Toni. Once my food arrived, I didn't realize that each order was a large amount of food and everything I ordered was so good. The sheep intestine and anchovies were flavorful and crispy. The patatas bravas and pig ears were my favorite. The pig ears were very tasty and tender. The waiter was so attentive, friendly and helpful. You can tell that it's not a job but it's something that he enjoys doing and like working at. He was so excited to meet us all that he provided us a complimentary glass of sherry wine. This place is a must try if you're looking for great food and a great experience.

One is the best places I ate in Madrid for sure. The guy who I believe is the owner was so nice and welcoming to me and i was by myself. Sometimes traveling alone you can feel awkward but I was recommended to try this place by many people. When I first walked in it was packed and there was nowhere to seat but they still welcomed me in, i went to the counter and I ordered so much food, they told me I could go upstairs and sit. Went upstairs and they brought me all the food as it was prepared. It was all great. The shrimp was my favorite and the sangria is so cheap. Definitely would like to visit again with friends and order everything on the menu.

One of the best meals in all of Madrid. Slightly off the beaten path about a 30 minute walk from the main attractions in plaza mayor but definitely worth the trip. A great menu of traditional tapas but they're specially is the odd bits and pieces of head to tail cooking. Grilled crispy yet tender pig ears. Juicy sweet breads with lemon. Fried baby squid is the best calamari ever. Liver, kidney, and onions, yes. Owner is super friendly and definitely a local crowd filtering in and out for lunch. As a bonus it's also located across the street from one of the oldest shops specializing in custom capes.

This is part of the underbelly of the dining scene in Madrid...the kind of place that is nondescript on the outside and serves a lot of offal on the inside. My short summary is: Real satisfaction. After eating eating here, God can just take me now. It is a little hard to find within the warren of small streets just west of the Puerto del Sol where so many great authentic tapas taverns are. Look for the red overhead awning and the least flashy storefront on the street. I actually walked by it a couple times without even realizing it. Go early and go often. Belly up to the bar if there is room, grab one of the few tables in the front room or head upstairs to the dining salon for a seat. Don't miss all the interesting, haphazard knick knacks and photos on the walls and all over the room. I got lucky and went early and sat right by la plancha where I got to watch the guy cook and prep which is good entertainment for the single traveler. Beer and wine seem to be the norms for most but there is also tap vermouth available and for the outsider like me, if your Spanish is minimal, pointing and looking pathetically hungry seems to get the job done. There is a menu they might hand you with English in it that is helpful and it does not advertise 1/2 order portions that some have commented on which would be a great way to sample several things if you are small in number. From an American perspective (because we all know that we entitled, Imperialistic colonists believe it is all about us), this is a place where timid eaters and vegetarians will protest. Reading their tapas list is like going through a copy of the Greatest Hits of Offal if there was one. Pig's ears, Veal Sweetbreads, Tripe, Lamb Intestines, Blood Sausage to name a few, will be perceived by the uninitiated as things to find in a little shop of horrors instead of a restaurant. For my first visit, I ordered Pig's Ears griddled on the flat top (orejas a la plancha) and Blood Sausage (morcilla) which was house made and softly jiggling in the glass case at the bar, sliced before my eyes by the barman and promptly treated to a sauna in the deep fryer resulting in a crispy outer texture with a soft and deeply tasty center. So satisfying in a primal kind of way. But the orejas simply stole the show. It has the fatty mouthfeel of bacon and a deeply porky taste which was heavily seasoned is finished with a hit of housemade smooth red salsa that is a bit caliente in just the right way to cut through the richness. And every once in a while, you get the benefit of a cartilaginous crunch that make eating ears so great. This was, perhaps, one of the best dishes I have ever had. Primal, satisfying, made to order in front of me, and super tasty. A useful tip if you are alone or with one other person: On the laminated menu you will be handed, all of the prices reflect full "racione" portions and there is no indication that they can do smaller "media" portions. On my 2nd visit, I asked and they will do it and charge half price. That way you can order within your appetite or if there are 2 of you, you can try more items instead of loading up on just 1 or 2 things. Because I did not know this on my first visit, I had too much food, I shared with some people around me and they shared their Sweetbreads with me which were also delicious, creamy and well-seasoned. I thought they were going to have to call the fire department to extricate me out of my seat at the bar because I was so full and could not move afterwards! My 2nd visit I did half portions of fried anchovies (boquerones frito) and fried Padron peppers. Both excellent and simple choices washed down with a tap vermouth. Can't say enough good things about this spot. Bravo to Casa Toni! Their tapas and uniqueness are definitely one of the best things I have found to love about Madrid.

So good! If you're looking for a cheap tapas place that will fill you up, Casa Toni's is the way to go. Portions are generous. Food is tasty but not overly salty or saturated in oil. Service is very friendly. I don't think they spoke any English, so brush up that high school Spanish! All in all, I'm so glad we stumbled upon Casa Toni's for our last meal. It's been surprisingly difficult to find cheap tapa places that actually taste good. My husband and I ordered 4 dishes and we were STUFFED! Menu: -green peppers: one of the best I've had during my week in Spain. -pig ears: soooo good. They were cooked to a crispy perfection! They are heavy so I would recommend getting veggies to balance it out. -patatas bravas: slightly crispy, red sauce was the perfect amount of flavor and taste. Potatoes were actually slightly crispy (this has been shockingly difficult to find in Spain). -anchovies in vinegar: the vinegar is VERY strong, but otherwise tasty dish. Unfortunately our waiter forgot to make this last dish for us until we finished the first three. If all four dishes came out at the same time, the flavors would have been amazing!!

Casa Toni is located in a busy-ish area of Madrid. You'll find many restaurants to choose from at higher price points but Casa Toni is the ]spot for an affordable meal or snack. This little restaurant (recommended by Anthony Bourdain) was cozy and just what we were looking for. When seated we were greeted with a complimentary plate of fried anchovies. This was a pleasant surprise as we were going to order these anyways. These were delicious with just the right amount of crisp and salt. We then got a couple glasses of sangria and munched on the recommended sheep intestines. This isn't for everyone. It's a gritty, game-y taste but perfectly golden fried. A definite spot to check out with unique dishes.

Doesn't seem like much when you first walk in and the staff isn't the most chatty but you're a tourist looking for good eats and drinks at a great value so why do you care? The menu is in Spanish and English and the specials and highlights are on the wall. With any order you'll be greeted with a small snack, the highlights for us were the sweetbreads, pig ears and chorizo. It's super casual, super affordable and super tasty. If it looks full there is a small dining area upstairs so don't hesitate to walk in. Credit cards accepted.

Made a stop here during my recent trip to Spain as part of my dinner tapas crawl. This place specializes in offal. There's a very narrow path in the handling of these kind of meats in making sure that they're not only edible, but something that people WANT to eat. I was completely blown away by how good the food was. I ordered the mollejas de cordero (sweet breads). The preparation was simple. Grilled over open flame with some lemon and olive oil, the flavor was incredible. So fresh, creamy, not gamey at all. Sweet breads are a specialty at fine dining restaurants, but Casa Toni makes them accessible for anyone strolling off the street. It's really easy to miss this place as it's on a street with busier and more demonstratively touristy places. But if you find your way, you'll find it well worth your while.

Casa Toni is one of those places that you hear about on Yelp, and on travel tv shows. Naturally, we had to give it a try. The restaurant is so that if you blink, you would miss it. The first floor interior is small, but there is also a second floor dining room. We arrived at a time that we were luckily seated right away upstairs. We were first seated at this tiny table with tiny stools, likely deigned by the Keebler Elves. A larger table opened up, and the server quickly moved us to a more comfortable area. We began with water and the house wine. I wasn't a huge fan of the wine, but I had read that it was great. Meh. As a starter, we received a bread basket. The slices of baguette were crusty on the outside, and soft on the inside. We were also given some thinly sliced jamon, which was lovely. We of course ordered the oreja a la plancha...pig ears. I was apprehensive, but I'm no quitter! These things were awesome. Sliced and soulfully grilled, served with a tomato aioli. I loved them, but couldn't eat a ton...they were so very rich. We wanted the boquerones fritos...fried anchovies. However, they were out of anchovies! Before dinner had even arrived! Bummer. We opted for calamares. The rings were perfectly fried, and we're amazing. We enjoyed our dinner here, and Casa Toni proved to be quite a popular place! I recommend it, hands down, and suggest trying things outside of your comfort zone.

Excellent food! Good service. Nice atmosphere. Beautiful music! When staying in Madrid after a long exhausting day of walking, we wanted an easy to get to and reasonably priced restaurant with good food. We found Casa Toni on Yelp and read the reviews. We decided to try it and it was excellent!! We did not have a reservation, but we were seated right away at a nice table in a good location. The decor is funky and mod in a good way. We noticed a lot of local people, most looking like young, professionals. The waiter who greeted us was patient with our language skills and quite friendly. The food was prepared with care, a mixture of unique ingredients, visually appealing and tasty. We loved Casa Toni for the full experience. It was such a nice surprise for our family to experience this restaurant on our trip.

Ate here in the evening on a Saturday night and it was amazing. The staff was very kind to us and had great service. The food was all so fresh, appetizing, tasty and worth it! Pricing was reasonable as well. The house sangria was dangerously good and after our meal we were given a free shot sized glass of sweet wine to sip on. Would recommend this place and I hope it does not become too touristy!

Friendly, traditional tapas in the heart of Madrid. Although it's only steps away from the tourist spots, this hidden gem did not feel like a tourist trap. The waiters are very nice and offered multiple free bites and drinks. It's a great place for bar snacks and non traditional tapas such as blood sausage and crispy pig ears. I would definitely recommend checking out this place when you are in Madrid for a casual quick bite and you won't be disappointed.

This is an amazing little spot, the decor is simple but the food and the services compensate it all. Try the potatoes with eggs and ibérico and a glass of sangria ( May be cheeped than water )

really good pig ears! their lamb intestine is good too, a bit on the oily side. The pimiento is great, but the garlic shrimp (Gambas ajillo) is so so. the portions here are big, it was way too much when the two of us ordered 4 tapas (they are way too big for tapas portion).

Came here on a Saturday evening and headed upstairs for a table. As soon as you walk in, the staff in the open kitchen area take notice and make you feel more comfortable. The menus are laminated and waiting for you on each table and the only hard part is figuring out what to whittle your order down to. There is one guy taking care of the upstairs which is maybe 10 small tables and it was fine. He was on autopilot yet very friendly and helpful which must be the Spanish way. He even let me order half sizes of my dishes (off the menu yeahhhhh!!) so I could try out more things. I ordered a glass of red and it was 2.70€... wasn't expecting much out of $3 but wow!! He also said he really liked it and wanted me to try the wine before I committed to it (For 2.70€, I'm already committed!) Food came out one by one and the portions were perfect. I ordered things that I probably wouldn't order if at a restaurant since they're larger portions and more costly... but tapas style and Madrid prices make you want to try the whole menu. So.. here is what I got: - Calamari 9.50€ (half portion) - Pincho de chorizo - skewered chunks of spicy sausage - 3.30€ - Mollejas de coedero - lamb neckglands (Sweetbreads) 9.80€ (half portion) - Callow caseros (homemade tripe) 9.00€ - Prios Roble (glass) - 2.70€ ** for all the half portions, obviously half price. All of them were very good except the tripe. They were either marinated too long or the realllly bad pieces which were too fatty were used, but I just felt like I was eating pieces of chewy butter. Definitely try to come here for the vibes - it's a homey Spanish feel with great, helpful servers!

We came to Casa Toni as the final stop on a Devour Tour we booked. We happened to go on a Monday evening of back to school so the place was pretty empty (for popular Spanish bars) so if you were walking by on this particular night, you might miss it. Our guide ordered a bunch of raciones (sharing plates bigger than tapas) including the chorizo, eggplant with honey, chipiritos (tiny fried squid), a skewered pork dish and a delicious glass of Ribera wine. At the end of our meal they brought us a glass of Manzanilla (not sure if this is typical, but I imagine it is since the couple next to us also got little glasses of it as well) which was sweet, delicious and the perfect way to cap the humble but delicious meal.

No?
