Comida fantástica en la taberna irlandesa. Comida deliciosa y un ambiente que te hace sentir como en casa. No es de extrañar que tengas que reservar con antelación para asegurarte de tener una cena al atardecer en casa de Sandy y Javier. ¡Reserva, no te arrepentirás! Fantastic meal in the Irish Tavern. Lovely food and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you are home. No wonder you have to book in advance to make sure you get a sunset dinner at Sandy and Javier’s place. Do book, you won’t regret it!

Just had one the nicest meals ever in this gorgeous, quaint and picturesque restaurant on the harbour front. Both me my wife and our daughters loved everything. I would highly recommend the sea bass if available and the garlic prawns for start were simply stunning, so much so my daughters ordered a second portion to share, only coz I wasn't prepared to share, they were that good. If your in Mogan I would highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks again to the staff and chef for an amazing night

Since we first visited Gran Canaria, in the late 1990s our heart has been very much taken, together with our stomach and thoughts, to the food served in particular restaurants in Puerto Mogan which summarises the attraction and the appeal of Gran Canaria. I've already written about a mainstay from the 1998 period, but in the last four to five years I've come across another beautiful gem, which has taken over my family's hearts and dietary needs, and that is the Irish Tavern, which is also in the old port of Puerto Mogan. This also has an Irish theme, overlooking the marina in a prominent position. What we like as a family, besides the location and the excellent cuisine, is the fact that this restaurant, run by Sandy and her husband, focuses on quality and care of service more than just catering for mass numbers. Uniquely, they have in mind a set number of places each night and stick quite strictly to only offering those places with food, which is of an exceptional standard. I am focusing and concentrating on the range of food available in the evening, which is quite extensive and varied (displayed on a chalkboard) and is always produced in a quality of the highest standard. I am a creature of habit and regularly stick to my set menu of King Prawn gambus al ahilo as a starter, a wonderful fillet of beef, cooked so that it's pink with no traces of red juices at medium Plus, together with chips/fries (which is the law in Britain haha!), and usually enjoy either the sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and ice cream, or one of their speciality cakes. My wife was very partial to a Bailey's cheesecake. I have found many restaurants charging slightly higher prices given the quality of the food that they're serving, but in the Irish Tavern with the special care and service provided by Sandy and her staff, the quality of the food and the prices justify the right balance for quality and good value which I look for in a restaurant. Unlike practice in other restaurants I have to admire their decision to focus on limiting numbers and focusing on quality of food and delivery and as such, even I have found that early booking is essential, as if it's not done can lead to disappointment. In the gambas al ahiLo whether, it's king prawns (where you get slightly less in number but they are large prawns/linguisteens), or the slightly larger number of normal prawns, remember that balanced with bread and chilli garlic sauce oil it is amazing tasting and value. Coming from a family of three, where I am the youngest, because my parents were older than me, I was a spoilt child and never grew to appreciate salads and vegetables so a beautiful fillet steak, cooked right, with a good sized portion of fries and a wonderfully tasting pepper sauce, to me is Perfection. My wife always enjoyed Bailey's cheesecake with cream and/or ice cream, whereas I particularly like their homemade sticky toffee pudding with a caramel sauce covering and ice cream as a dessert. Every mouthful was so tasty and delightful, and the prices are exceptional good value, given that you have a quality meal that you'll remember once you get back home to blighty or wherever you live. The memories will always be there. In these last two to three years my daughter Janine, her husband and my granddaughter, have enjoyed the delights of eating at this precious restaurant and they have tried a range of the other main menu offerings, together with the seasonal specialities when available, and found them all to be cooked and presented to such a high standard, quality and thoroughly enjoyable. Congratulations to Sandy, her husband (who is the chef) together with all their members of staff who support them and make the whole experience very unique, compared to the restaurants where it's all about mass turn over/around, whereas this is quality `par excellence!`
