I lived nearby this place before I returned to the US almost 2 years ago. While I was there were many morning that I awoke craving their cafe solo- the best I've had outside of Italy.
But there's so much more. I'm an American in love with croquettas and Lido has some great ones. First of all they are big. I've not seen them this size elsewhere. But more important of course, they are delicious.
This time around my eyes were bigger than my stomach, As my mom used to say. So in that moment of hunger I ordered the Lido pizza. The pizza is of substantial size - maybe 14". (It would be fair at this point to ask if those are gay inches. Could be...) but it was packed with topping and even though I was full from the croquettas, I managed to put down half of the pizza on it flavor alone.
Got to go- love this place like I do!
Service was good. I ordered the chicken paella. It was good. You could tell they made it fresh to order but the rice was a tad undercooked. My friend ordered the garlic shrimp pasta. That was delicious. Would definitely go back if I ever go back to Barcelona
This was our first meal in Barcelona and it didn't disappoint. This place is a no frills cafe. Really laid back.
The space is really small so seating is limited. We sat outside and even those tables were set pretty close to each other.
The drinks here are pretty stiff and price was reasonable. I can't remember exactly but I think it was only €5-6 for a caipiroska, which is a caipirinha with vodka. I think I ended up having 3 because they were pretty tasty.
For dinner we split the grilled seafood for two. Again, I think it was only €25 for a huge platter of assorted seafood. If you're looking to just have a drink and a snack I'd recommend this platter.
Overall a great experience. The wait staff was really nice but disappeared for long periods. I don't think it's bad service, I think that's just the way it is here. They let you sit and enjoy your meal and not trying to rush you out.
