Amazing food. We had the secreto Iberico and the sausage and the mushrooms, spicy potatoes, and corn. Everything was excellent. Atmosphere is gothic chic. Very reasonable prices. We highly recommend.

We ate here our first night and thought, "Wow, food here is amazing and so affordable!". How wrong we we're as we tried several other places that offered low quality food and service at prices suited to much higher quality and service. We have returned and are happy again. Service is great meaning they treat you as valued guests going above and beyond. The food quality is excellent for the price. We had steak and while they were a bit chewy they were nonetheless delicious and we'll cooked, a solid score of 8 out of 10. The goat cheese salad is an 11 out of 10 and wine is abundant at 3 Euro for a generous cup.
This is on a side street just down from 3 Gats and we highly recommend it. Steak dinner for two, with wine for around 30 Euro.
Great find! We were looking for a place to eat of the beaten path. We found Melic del Gotic. The food was very good, reasonably priced, and the staff was wonderful! Options for all. I would recommend!
Been here before, 3 yeas ago, on the recommendation of a friend who did his studies abroad here for a semester. Came back again on a Tuesday this November and it's still outstanding. Tucked away in an alley in the gothic quarter, this spot still manages to pack it in every night. Great prices allow for you to sample a lot of bites and share between friends. The staff is incredibly accommodating. There was only one table available when we entered and we didn't love the location, but knew we wanted to stay. Once we were seated and ordered the waitress offered to move us to a table where guests had just left. Incredibly nice, but we were settled in! The waitress offered to show us how to make the Catalan tomato bread that we love! Great wine prices starting around 10€ a bottle. Great food, great prices, friendly staff, pretty outstanding. We will be back!
We absolutely loved this restaurant. Great atmosphere that felt like you were in an old world place. Food was fantastic. We had spaghetti Bolognese and ravioli. Service was engaging. And epic. Highly recommend.
Can't go wrong with a 3 course meal that includes wine, beer or a bottle of water for 12 Euros. The portions were decent sized, delicious and very filling! The service was good and they were very quick. As soon as I ordered, the food came out hot and tasted very fresh. Would definitely recommend this place and would definitely go back if I visit Barcelona again!

Having just arrived in Barcelona, we set off on a leisurely walk in el Barri Gotic. We quickly came across the smell of meat "a la brasa" (ember) and we knew that was our lunch destination. So, we followed our noses and they led us to Melic del Gotic. Once my husband saw the size of the steaks they were putting on the grill, I knew we found his heaven.
It seemed the place had just opened for lunch. The owner/manager was very attentive and gave us a great welcome to Barcelona.
We started off with beer, cured ham, chorizo and pan con tomate (my new favorite). He personally showed us how to prepare it and we now make it at home almost every day. We then had their biggest steak and the pineapple & chicken skewers, with a side of potatoes. For dessert, crema catalan, what else?
Everything was cooked to perfection and the chef himself showed my husband "his steak" just before putting it on the grill.
Overall, friendly, warm and delicious!
First of all, this was with out a doubt some of the best service we received in Barcelona. The food was top notch and the atmosphere was truly unique so a 'WIN' across the board. We had the fixed menu with salad, octopus, and desert.
The salad had avocado and three types of cheeses, each of them special in their own little way. ;)
The octopus was cooked with peppers and spices, reminiscent of a Cajun dish actually. I'm originally from NOLA so I was very happy with the spice level. Perfect.
The menu came with wine, desert and both were delish.
I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for a nice, affordable place to eat and enjoy yourself in Barri Gotic.
I got the picaya cut because it was lean. The cut was amazing, soft, flavorful and just as I wanted. I got the seasoned fries with it, they had an interesting flavor. I think the fries were seasoned with powdered cumin so if you find the flavor too strong, don't get them seasoned. The place has a cool old style look to it with arches and a rustic kind of feel. It was pretty casual in there and I went around 4 so it wasn't annoyingly busy.
Very nice and quite place to enjoy a very good meal. From start to finish, the food and service was terrific.
Had a really nice meal here. The tomato bread was the best we experienced in Barcelona, particularly because it was assembled at the table and the waiter encouraged us to make the second batch ourselves (great fun and we did a pretty good job) We enjoyed watching the chef in the kitchen cook our entire meal over the open grill. Everything, especially the steaks,was well cooked and very tasty, the draft beer was fresh and smooth and the house wine very acceptable. In addition the service was attentive and solicitous and the atmosphere so pleasant. Would definitely come here again.

Best: the ham, very simple but very high quality, every bite had a creamy quality that just melts in your mouth. The mushroom garnish, smoked and salted to perfection. The catalonia toast, rubbed with fresh garlic and tomato, goes with everything. The cream brûlée, was gone in two seconds.

GO HERE!!! It was excellent in every way! Good, service, price. Perfect!! We started out having to wait for about 30 minutes but it was a Saturday evening at 8pm so that was our fault. But the other people ahead of us said it was worth the wait, it was their second time there on their trip!
When we got seated we didn't get any starters(but the bread and tomato looked amazing). I ordered the chicken burger, corn and salsa Bravas. My boyfriend ordered rump steak, potatoes and aioli. We both agreed that it was the best new in Barcelona. The salsa of mine was made perfectly, the chicken was rich and juicy and grilled on a stove that you can view from your table. By boyfriend said his steak was beautifully cooked rare, and if he had gotten this back home in the US, the size and quality would have been $50(it was only 10€!!!). It was perfectly filling and wonderful.
The atmosphere was awesome, original old building and well decorated and organized. And the service is the best we've had all over Europe. They truly care about their customers!
We had an amazing evening here for our last night. If there even are any bad reviews for this place, IGNORE THEM. They had a one in a million chance mistake which won't happen to you. Every person here left happy, and it was the busiest night of the week.
Great place for meat - not one seafood item in the menu. Steak is a particular specialty, but also pork and lamb. The interior is really nice - all stone and very rustic. Great atmosphere.

Estupendo lugar para comer y cenar en Barcelona. La atención es maravillosa, la comida exquisita y el lugar muy bonito. La carne es a la brasa y tiene la brasa a la vista. Es cocina catalana con algunas mezclas, un toque muy interesante. Tanto los postres como los entrantes son deliciosos. Si estás por la zona es 100% recomendable ir.
Muy orientado al turismo. La comida está muy buena pero las raciones son pequeñas y caras.
La comida en general está muy buena y encima te lo hacen al momento en la parrilla. El problema que tiene el restaurante es que te cobran unos 15€ por un trozo, si solo uno, de unos 100g, de carne a la brasa. Y lo mismo para la parrilla de vegetales... Una dineral para 4 verduras que te ponen....
Destaco el postre de fondoue de chocolate. Ahí si que ponen una gran cantidad de chocolate y bastante fruta para disfrutar a un precio razonable.
A nivel de servicio es intermedio. Tenían una camarera que estaba un poco amargada y que contestaba mal a los clientes y otro latino que era super majo.
En definitiva, ves con la idea de gastar, porque las raciones son la mitad de lo que deberían ser.
