Best Irish bar in the city by a distance. Garrett and Ursula are super hosts who always have a story to tell and make you feel most welcome. The extended team of Irish bar staff are top notch too - it really is the place to go to watch a game or have a laugh in great company. Can't recommend this place highly enough having spent six months in the city.
Even after 6 months in this city Scobies is still my favorite bar/pub. It is one of the only Irish bars that is run by people who are actually Irish and is one of the cleanest and beat kept bars I have found. Their selection and prices of beers, ciders, and cocktails with the atmosphere are unmatchable. Be sure to check it out for a casual pint or two, a place to watch a good football or rugby match, or as a pre-drink spot!
Just starting out wee food and nailed to a tee
Menu needs expanded only down side !
Highly recommend this bar home from home!!!
Nothing better than an ice cold beer on a hot June afternoon. Had a great visit with Ursula ( the owner) who gave us some history about the Pub.
So glad to see that they are now serving food.
Visited this bar ever night we were in Barcelona and it was just a brilliant atmosphere every night we went in as the people who ran it were Irish. Would definitely recommend stopping by for a drink, best bar in Barcelona!
Lovely atmosphere, friendly bar staff - excellent place to watch the football
The best pints in town, and a great place to sit at a bar and chat.
A really nice pub with lovely friendly owners from kerry. Nice wine and spotless toilets you can tell a lot of love and care has been put into this pub by the owners. Great atmosphere and the food looked fab. Will definitely revisit
Had a few pints of Guinness there Yesterday after being dragged around Barcalona shopping... Great spot to Chill out... Fionn was the bar man on pint pulling duty... Look after our party of 13 with ease.... I'll be back.....
Fab pub with fab owners Garret and Ursula who always have a story to tell and friendly staff, great drink and always a friendly face to greet you when you walk in ,once you have been to scobies you wouldn’t want to go anywhere else
If your looking for an Irish bar in Barcelona....look no further. Friendly and relaxed place to drink, with a genuine and traditional feel to the place.
Great pub, Guinness is as good as you get, Taytos , sports. It’s a gem.
Lovely atmosphere staff were brilliant. Visited every evening on our trip to Barcelona definitely recommend a visit X
Very good cozy bar, like usually all Irish pubs I've been.... Good staff, excellent beer, good light and music.
Great atmosphere friendly staff we will defy be visiting again
On a short trip to Barcelona and found this pub by accident. A pleasure to drink in this bar, the staff and the owner were most hospitable and felt very welcome. As I write this I'm actually wearing the t-shirt I purchased from them. Give this place a visit
What a fantastic pub. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I came here for the "best pint of Guinness you'll find in Barcelona." This is certainly the case. Ursula and her husband Garrett run a fantastic establishment. The proprietors are friendly and the crowd is a mix of locals, English speaking tourists, and expats. The music is generally tasteful classic rock and the purple lighting obtains a green hue from the Jameson bottle lined walls. Liquer selection is extensive as well.
Conveniently located. Friendly. Off the Ramblas so you don't feel like youre in Disneyland. The bartender is always ready for a chat. They also speak Catalonia/Spanish well---so no problems there. Tidy and clean. 5 stars easily
On my first trip to Barcelona for business from the US I decided to forgo the traditional dinner scene and opt for a Irish pub. By happenstance Scobies was a short cab ride from my hotel. Upon arrival I quickly found myself in an authentic, friendly Irish pub with an amazing selection of whiskey - I'm not fond of beer. Hungry, I decided to order some food. The food was fantastic! American classic rock was playing, sports on the television, and several patrons with Irish accents enjoying the evening. To be fair I have not tried any other Irish pub in Barcelona but based on my first experience here I'm not inclined to experiment and will just come back here to relax and unwind after work.
Lovely place, friendly atmosphere and a great whiskey selection (Irish, Scottish, and American.)
They went out of their way to stream a hockey game for us. Went througj an entire process just to find what channel was vroadcasting it and if they had it. Hockey is not typically a popular sport in Spain, and with soccer game taking place the same night, they werr able to accomodate us with a TV and provided great customer service.
Irish pub with friendly staff and customers.
Good location about halfway between the Universitat and Catalunya metro stops. The bartender said he poured the best pint of Guinness in Barcelona. Based on my extensive research, he wasn't kidding. Nice G&T, too.
Excellent TVs to watch rugby, football, cricket, etc. No food sold but there are restaurants and take-out joints all along La Ronda.
The pause that refreshes when you're tired of trying to speak Spanish and find your way around and need a place like home.
Great little slice of Ireland, or Boston or New York for that matter. Young Irish couple decided to open a Pub in Spain. If I recall correctly, They cater to about 40% tourists like us, 20 % Irish X-pats and 40% Spanish people looking for the experience.
Of course Guinness on tap but also Amstel Lager, a favorite of mine and difficult to find. Hundreds of empty Jameson bottles ring the room giving the proper impression. Looked to be 8 or 9 different Irish Whiskeys available plus about anything else you might want.
Oddly enough, no food. Sad because nothing says Barcelona like a nice Shepherds pie and a Guinness.
Conversation with the owner, Ursula, with a lovely Brogue.I must say, showed why you might go there even without the beer. Her stories about living both in Ireland and in Spain had us captivated. Obviously the welcoming, outgoing attitude of her Publican ( The original Scoby ) father has worn off.
What originally hooked me was the playlist of Clancy Brothers songs from my college days and then American music from the same era but if you're too young for that some playlists were more current but, never fear, no electronic Eurotrash to be heard.
There was no stage and, apparently no live music. Perhaps that would have been too much to ask for in Spain?
If you want to go to Ireland on your trip, but don't have the time, STOP HERE! Wonderful Guinness, wonderful owner, just wonderful! You won't want to leave.
We had a great time at Scobies! The bartender Michael was friendly and chatty with us (Americans) and the locals (in Spanish). It was the kind of pub where no one was a stranger for long. We met someone from home (Texas), Israel, and another bartender who wasn't working from Ireland as well. It had a comfortable feel and the restrooms were very clean. Centrally located, it was a great place to stop and have a pint. Thanks for a great night!!
Loved this bar, it actually had air conditioning!!! The staff was super friendly. Totally will be back the next time in Barcelona. Just wish I found it sooner in my trip.
I must say, this is s fine place. I had the opportunity to have a splendid time with some ex-pats. I totally recommend it to any English speaking folks, if you miss a bit of that barbaric but loving American talk. ...
Go USA!!
We decided to go in here while on vacation because we knew we could get good beer on St Patrick's Day. The staff were true Irish which I am kind of purist about. Reasonable prices, good atmosphere, great location. We came across other English speakers from US, Ireland, and Australia and had a great time.
Good old friendly establishment. Visiting Barcelona and as we walked back to our hotel we spotted Scobies Irish pub. We didn't know that the rugby championship cup was going on. We got talking to the bar maid who turned out to be the owner and after talking she directed us to some great food spot and point of interest. We ended up at scobies every night after our site swing day. If we visit Barcelona we will make sure to make scobies our to go spot.
Best place ever! Talk about a pub that allows you to feel right at home. The staff is wonderful. We stayed in Barcelona for a week and let me tell you, we were at this bar pretty much every other day. Our first night day, the bartender opened up one of our maps and started marking down all sorts of cool places for us to visit. Bars, clubs, local beaches... After that, we began meeting some of the regulars, the owner, all of the bartenders. Let's just say that this place is amazing and if you are looking for a place to call home base, this would be it. If you are a local or a tourist, this place is great for both. Also, you may not notice it between the perfectly poured pints of Guiness, but the music in this place is top notch! Especially if the owner is working the bar. Give this place a try. You won't be sorry.
I like this place. It's simple and to the point. A nice Irish bar very centrally located in Barcelona pretty much near everything. Good Guinness and a good price too! The owner is a nice guy and they have Irish sports here too. Definitely worth checking out if your near this area.
Perfect! My husband was happy to find this pub and it was just around the corner from where we were staying in L'Exiample.
Barcelona was one of my favorite places in Spain...most because of this bar! We came here after wandering aimlessly in Barcelona for hours. We needed a beer and a rest. What we got was an awesome pint, great conversation, and tons of local information. The bartender spoke perfect English and was from Ireland. My husband is Irish so they got along famously. We were pretty uninformed tourists, but we wanted to just experience Spain. Our bartender told us where to go, what to see, what to eat, and what not to miss. He was awesome. Honestly, we were there over a year ago and my husband and I still talk about the bartender at Scobies. We ended up coming back 3x during our 4 days in Barcelona. Each time he was as friendly as ever. Totally our favorite bar in all of Spain...and that is saying a lot!
We normally visit Barcelona twice a year and we always make sure that we stop and take in the atmosphere of Scobies.
This Irish Run and Irish staffed bar that is well stocked for beers, ciders and spirits. Right in the centre of Barcelona situated very close to the Universitat metro stop.
It is always a welcoming environment and a good place to spend a few hours out of the heat of the sun.
They ahve many large tv screens showing sport. If on holiday then you will be able to catch Scottish and English Premier League games, champions league games etc easily.
The bar is also frequented by the locals which is a good sign.
Looking forward to our next visit in a months time.

Unico!!

Local agradable y buen servicio!
