We wondered into this very cute little place thinking it was just a hole in the wall bar.
Oh no, it was an absolutely amazing vegetarian restaurant. A small Turkish tea house but with a great vegetarian menu. Everything we ordered was absolutely spectacular.
Salterio is such a good place to relax and eat/drink. There's some nice food up for grabs and a lot of different varieties of teas/coffees as well some beers and other alcoholic beverages. Plus they have live music, which is a treat.

Incredible food, staff, entertainment, and ambiance. We went back a few times. I would never return to Barcelona and not dine here. We took a brief excusion to Morocco after dining here and food was not nearly as delectable. We fell in love with this place. Highly recommended!
It's not a place come and eat, but a place come and love, what a beautiful place!
Super small, but cozy spot with super nice people. I really enjoyed the wines and a Saldo (kind of like panini sandwich, but round). I stumbled upon it, and would return when back in Barcelona. A real find.
Stumbled upon this gem and sat drinking the best tea I have ever had in a chilled and inspiring setting. I just wish I could remember what was in the Remedios tea as it was so incredible!
Plus:
Hemtrevlig atmosfär.
Mycket god mat.
Trevlig personal.

Amazing sangria. You can actually taste the wine and it's not overly sweetened like most other places. Food was yummy too!
This place is amazing! The amazing food and delicious sangria are only surpassed by the romantic atmosphere and excellent service.
We didn't have the tea but I will no doubt go back. The food was AMAZING! Vegetarian and delicious.
Wonderful quaint spot for lunch in Barcelona! The Sangria is amazing as well!
Found this great hole in the wall place while getting lost in the gothic quarter. It was a hidden gem in between two leaning buildings, with a small alley way that might look like there was nothing there. It was the best find in Barcelona.
It was small and quaint but busy. They had mixed matched chairs and decora that gave the space a rustic old timey look. The owners are Italian but the teas and food have some Middle Eastern influence. I'm not a big fan of teas besides green tea and chamomile but I decided to get out of my comfort zone and try a new blend. I had the Remedio ir Remedy tea made with ginger, lemon, Jasmine, cloves, and some other spices. It was heaven. I felt like I was coming down with something so this tea really helped. They make all the tea blends themselves in house so they go to the market and buy the products fresh and make it there to order.
They come in little tea pots and cups all mixed matched and cute. The vibe is soothing and calm. I enjoyed my time there that I came back again the next day! I ordered the Sardo, which is a pita bread stuffed with vegetables and some other spices. It was delicious!
It's the perfect place for a calm night or an afternoon tea. I highly recommend visiting this gem!
This is the place where you wanna try fresh, original and amazing Mediterranean food!! Made everything at the moment. My meal: sardo "cuatro estaciones" and radicchio salad !
The place is packed but the wait worth it !
Thank you for the wonderful experience . Wonderful staff and a perfect lunch ! We are so happy to have found this little hole in the wall
The atmosphere is incredible. My wife got the white sangria and loved it. I got the remedio tea and also loved it. If you come here you can't leave until you eat a Sardo, we thoroughly enjoyed the four seasons. Next time I am in Barcelona I will definitely make the trip back here
This spot is a very quaint, bohemian-like relaxed place with just a handful of mismatched tables and chairs. The vibe is super cool and relaxed.
The menu is all about tea. If you're looking for tea - green tea, black tea, oolong tea, mu tea, jasmine tea, red tea - hot tea or iced tea. I ordered green tea with mint and it was hands down the best tea I've ever had. They have sangria as well which looked FULL of fruit. On my list to try next time.
The food menu is limited and all vegetarian. We ordered the classic and vegetable saldos which were stuffed with veggies. The classic was all about tomatoes, basil and onions with cheese. The vegetables was stuffed with at least a pound of spinach. All very flavorful and delicious.
The service was a bit slow since the place was full and there were only 3 running the place. One servicing the tables and 2 making tea/saldo. They really focus on each tea that they make.
Find this place if tea is your cup of tea!! Enjoy!!
It was a hot and humid day in Barcelona. This gem of a restaurant was a welcome respite from the day's activities. Salterio is located in the Gothic Quarter in the area of El Call. They have retained the gothic ambiance inside the restaurant, and it feels as though you are in medieval times.
We were able to rest up a bit and sample some of their delicious food. The restaurant is small. We were lucky to get a nice table for two as most of the restaurant was full. We sampled their delicious vegetarian sardo. My husband, who is a meat and potato guy, was pleased with our selection and we left quite full. They have a wide selections of teas, but also serve wine and beer. Really cool place!
Sangria was top notch and the best atmosphere. Cute cozy place with gorgeous stone walls. The bathroom is really tiny so work quickly. The food was also really good. I can't wait to go back.
Great sangria Stopped in here for late night dinner and drinks for our first night in Barcelona. We had such a good time! The ambiance is warm and inviting: there is great music playing, a beautiful stone wall and intimate seating. We ordered a Sangria pitcher and a number of items: the Cheese Plate, Papa Bread with Tomato, Pesto Sardo and the Clasico Sardo. All of the food was outstanding- ESPECIALLY the Sardo dishes. I'm still dreaming about it back in Chicago:). The workers were super helpful and friendly; overall this place is a definite must see if you're in Barcelona!
Great, hidden gem in the alleys of the Gothic Quarter. We had 2 varieties of this dish called Sardo, 3 days ago, and I am still thinking about it! Just savory goodness. Cozy spot with a cool vibe with friendly service as well.
Lovely cozy relaxing place with nice teas/coffees and wines and very friendly staff/owner. Must try the sados. I sat at the bar and noted the owner took real care preparing every dish. You need to wait a bit for food but it's worth it. It is my favorite place in Barcelona.
This tea room is lovely. Wonderful ambience and tea....but do not leave without a Sardo. Pick one, you won't be disappointed. It is basically an overstuffed quesadilla and perfect to share with a glass of tea or in my case a wonderful 2.5€ glass of wine.
Pure love and pure magic. Mediterranean fusion at its best! This place has some special energy that was felt and appreciated by everyone in my group. It was a small group of 3 and that's what Salterio is best for; a small group of your best loved friends or relatives to have an intimate dining/drinking experience. This is one of those rare places where everything you have is delicious. If you go, get these things: Sangria (white or red, both were amazing), olives (THE BEST OLIVES EVER!), tomato bread (it's flat bread, check the pic), four seasons Sardo (or any sardo, I'm sure they are all amazong), and finally the datil (date) cookies. Come here with no other plans, soak up every bit of old world ambiance, don't even think of meat the whole night (I love meat, but we didn't miss it that night) and just bathe in the love that the authentic and sweet natured staff exude. The only negatives I could possibly imagine is that it's too small, has a small menu (but everything is a mouthgasm so who cares) and has slow service( everything is made by hand with love and care). Do not let that deter you from experiencing a perfect dining experience at Salterio, a special and magical place!!
AMAZING.....ambience, food, drink, service. Don't miss this place!!!!!! I was on a search for the best mint tea since I had an incredible experience 10 years ago in Granada. This met and exceeded my expectations! A true experience! Love love love it!
This is one heck of a hole in the wall that we found on Trip Advisor (sorry Yelp). This hidden gem is tucked in the dark alleyways near Placa de Sant Jaume.
There aren't many tables in this Bohemian bar, but I've never had an issue being seated. The menu is small but ill make it easy on you. Order the two items below in mass quantities for a good time:
Four Seasons Sardo
A sardo is a mix of vegetables wrapped in a thin pita type bread. They drizzle sauce over the top and you simply cant get enough. We tried all of the sardos during our two trips to Barcelona but this one is hands down our favorite.
Sangria
Wine mixed with oranges, gala apples and mint hand cut by the old lady behind the bar. This was my favorite sangria throughout Spain.
This is quite the relaxing place in the busy streets of Spain. As a meat lover i was quite surprised to enjoy a place without meat. Put this place on your itenerary for s late dinner after enjoying the plaza!
Walked in here wanting a place to drink some tea, rest my feet and get away from the heat. This is indeed the place that fulfills those needs. As soon as you walk in, it feels very cozy, intimate and cool. It is not so well lit to preserve the feeling that u are in a cave. There is an English and Spanish menu that is very helpful. The people who work at the cafe are extremely nice. The bathroom and sink are located in a side room that is very dark. However, there is a switch to turn on the light. The flush on the toilet doesn't work. You need to pull up on the tin can on top of the toilet tank to flush it. Don't let the restroom and toilet prevent you from visiting this cafe. It's a diamond in the rough...Just be aware, they don't accept credit cards..CASH ONLY!!
This place is magic! It is a tiny, dark restaurant perfect for drinks with a friend or two. The music, the friendly staff, and the relaxed atmosphere make this place the gem that it is. The red sangria was delicious- with fresh fruit and mint cut to order. The pesto sardo was also delicious. I visited three times over the course of my ten days in Barcelona and I will recommend it to anyone I know traveling in Spain.
How good is this place? I will define my eating life pre & post this dark obscure hidden gem in one of the many streams of alleys that feed into La Rambla from the gothic quarter.
When you travel the road less traveled you are sure to stumble into things that will change your life, ala this restaurant.
Let's start with the Salterios literal hole in the wall, max of 10 people can probably fit inside but it makes for one intimate affair.
The Sangria was out of this world, it's the first thing I ordered and I was wondering what was taking so long, well they Literally make it to order(cut the oranges, strawberries etc on the spot, mix the sugar and wine) no premade batches here. Best sangria I've ever tasted and it's not even close.
To eat! I opted for a Classico, originally had no idea what it was and and yet I really still don't but it was two pieces of bread filled with the best tomatoes you'll ever taste in your life that taste like actual fruit paired with some cheese topped with maybe yogurt? I don't know and I don't care, I will be back to Barcelona just to eat and drink at this establishment again.
To stay in Spanish tradition Ole! Salterio, ole my good friend!
This was one of the best places I've been to in Barcelona! Small and cozy tea house with delicious house specials, affordable prices really good music. This place is definitely a must visit if you're coming to Barcelona!
I'm glad I checked in on Yelp here because I did not know the name of the place was Salterio! It's this tiny little cafe hidden away in one of the many narrow walkways in the Barri Gothic neighborhood of Barcelona. I thought it very unique and cozy!
It's dark inside, seemingly light by candlelight. I had some tea, I don't remember anymore what kind of tea, but I drank a lot of it. I believe there was also some olives.
Service was fairly slow, but pleasant. I enjoyed just sitting and people watching while I sipped my tea. It was the perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate before heading back out to be a tourist.

Recomendado!
